Siemens CEO rules out job cuts from coronavirus impact

 Due to the economic downturn caused by the latest coronavirus, Siemens would not slash its jobs, Chief Executive Joe Kaeser said, while short-term job incentives in Germany may be extended. “No one at Siemens will leave because of a temporary fluctuation in activity,” In an interview published Saturday, Kaeser told the Passauer Neue Presse.Still, Siemens had to adapt to systemic changes, as in fossil fuel power, where the shift toward renewable energy is going.

“But in a temporary crisis, there’s no question: we will get through it together. And when the crisis is over, and things are picking up again, we’ll tackle it together,” Kaeser told.

So far only a limited number of Siemens employees-1,600 of Germany's 120,000 are on short-time jobs.
